Back to Basics - Jumpsuits

Please please please let them never ever go out of style ever! I am definitely jumping for joy at the return of the jumpsuit. There’s something so sensuous about this comfortable and effortlessly chic piece of clothing. The fluidity of this garment is the icing on the cake.

I’ve always wanted to dress as Catwoman for Halloween solely because of the gorgeous one piece catsuit. Although i think that this is one jumpsuit that probably wont be comfortable but it'll be worth the effort! I haven’t found the costume so far but hope to get lucky this year. For now, I shall be content with this season’s jumpsuits which vary from basic black & white to an explosion of colors and prints and are available in a variety of styles and lengths. Add a belt or make a statement with the lace or wide legged options. What’s your pick?

Back to Basics - Shorts & Dresses

Comfort is key during the day especially in summer and nothing screams relaxed chic like a pair of tailored shorts which can be dressed down or jazzed up with the right accessories. Here are some of my favorite ways to wear shorts.

Forever New

United Colors of Benetton

Esprit

DKNY (Photo courtesy http://www.harpersbazaar.com)

Another cool option for the day is an understated dress. Printed dresses are my preference this season while the jury’s still out on the maxi dress. Can petite women pull off this look particularly when paired with flats?

For the evening, there’s always the quintessential little black dress or opt for the uber classy nude one…yes, am a bit obsessed with this season’s hottest shade! And there’s Herve Leger whose dresses inspire you, like nothing else can, to hit the gym!

Add a twist to your outfit by teaming with a belt. When the temperatures drop add a pair of leggings and you’re set.

Back to Basics - Shoes

There are some items of clothing & accessories that should be an integral part of every woman's wardrobe. In a series of posts, I will be highlighting my pick of the basics. Feel free to let me know if you feel otherwise :)

Here's celebrating the release of SATC 2 by starting the series with shoes!

Must haves -
  • Heels:
Black - from the office to a party, these babies will "carrie" you through many occasions
Red - for the days you want to knock someone's socks off ;)
Nude - classy, classy. classy! It doesn't get classier than nude! And they go with everything!

  • Versatile pair of flats - hey, even your feet deserve a vacation plus these flats are seriously cute.

If money wasn’t a constraint and you could buy 5 items of clothing or accessories, what would you choose? Here's what’s on my wish list at the moment.

Burberry Short Double Breasted Trench Coat (the long one may be too overpowering for my petite frame)

Goosebumps

My first visit to the capital. I have never experienced heat like this except when standing next to a grill or a furnace! The heat waves envelop and assault. I am pleasantly surprised to see the younger women, unlike in most Indian cities, dressed to beat the heat in cotton shorts and t-shirts. The infrastructure is well planned with wide roads, flyovers, underpasses etc.

And then there was love at first sight – the south Delhi malls! I almost cry at the sheer size, variety of stores and up-to-date collections at Select CITYWALK. Goosebumps! I’ve spotted the ALDO store displaying a mouth watering collection of utter gorgeousness. Ah! Paradise! But way out of my budget! Sigh! My two favorite pairs shown below are hotter than Delhi in May.

Unfortunately I’m unable to visit any of the famous bargain markets – Janpath, Sarojini Nagar, Dilli Haat. Next time! Delhi – I will be back! And you babies from ALDO – you will be mine someday soon. Fingers crossed!
